A Single-Stage Three-level PFC Boost Converter for IH Application

Nagaraju Guvvala, Dr. Shashi. B. Singh

Abstract

This paper presents a single-stage three-level power electronic converter topology for the induction heating domestic applications. As the proposed topology uses a single-stage conversion, the reduction in the stages of conversion increases the efficiency of the converter. The proposed converter incorporates the boost converter operation, where high dc link voltages can be achieved with improved input power factor. Three-level inverter stage reduces the stress across the switches and improves the quality of the waveform. The control strategy and mode wise operation of the converter is presented. Extensive simulation studies has been performed using MATLAB/Simulink®. The simulation results of proposed converter are presented and performance analysis of the converter is done.
