Influence of GGBS in Alkali Activated Slag and Fly Ash Based Geopolymer Concrete

M.Joseph David Selvan, Midhun. P

Abstract

This paper research about experimental study and behavior of Geopolymer concrete in the various aspects such as strength and durability. Now a days pollution is a main factor to cause many health diseases especially the air and water pollution is a vital one. The high production of electric power gives more satisfaction for human being to live in the world but in another way it produces more pollution in the form of fly ash. So to reduce the air pollution we can reuse as a pozzolanic material for the concrete. Geopolymer concrete is an absence of cement for making concrete which is investigate by comparing the strength and durability with the conventional concrete of grade M40.one of the most important ingredients in normal concrete is Portland cement but in the Geopolymer concrete Alkali Activated Slag and Fly ash. The alkali activators are attained by combination of Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) and Sodium Silicate in (Na2SiO3) the ratio of 2.5 and of molarities 12M and 16M.Durability test conducted was Chloride Attack test. The tests are conducted for Oven dry curing and open air curing concrete as Split tensile, flexural strength tests at 28th day. Compressive strength tests are carried out on 7, 14, 28 and 56 days, Durability test on 56th day. AAS and FA based geopolymer concrete has great potential for utilization in construction field as it is Eco-Friendly.
