Behaviour Of Lean Duplex Stainless Steel Stub Column:A Review
Abstract
A stub column is the one whose length is sufficiently small to resist failure as a column, but also long enough to confine the same residual stress pattern that exists in the column. The Lean Duplex Stainless Steel (LDSS) is a new class of stainless steel which has low nickel content of 1.5%. The LDSS stub column helps to improve the ductile nature provide high corrosive resistance and an increased strength compared to conventional austenitic and ferric stainless steel. This review involves the effect of the steel strength, bucking load capacity, seismic loading, compressive strength, steel thickness and length of the LDSS stub column.
