E-MODLEACH: An Extended MODLEACH Protocol for Wireless Sensor Network

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is becoming an important issue in the modern communication system. Though many sectors of this networking system are still under research, many of them have high potential in everyday life. Lots of research are done and many of them are waiting to be modified. This research work studied on cluster-based routing wireless networks precisely. In this paper, we have proposed E-MODLEACH (Extended MODLEACH) which is an improved version of MODLEACH by introducing a secondary cluster head with the parallel of the main Cluster head. The secondary cluster head handover the cluster operation in case of failure of a cluster head by aiming to improve the system lifetime and network throughput. The simulation result indicates that our E-MODLEACH, in comparison with MODLEACH outperforms in terms of network life, data loss and packet transferred to the base station.
