Polarizability of Hydrogenic Impurities in Cubical Quantum Dot

Bruno Chandrasekar, K. Gnanasekarand

Abstract

In this work, calculations of ionization energy of an on-center hydrogenic impurity under external electric field and polarizability in a GaAs cubical quantum dot are presented. Within the effective mass approximation the variational approach is employed to study its properties. Increase in the binding energy is calculated as the size of the dot decreases and the external electric field increases. The high value of polarizability can be obtained as the dot size is minimum. There is a linear variation of polarizability is obtained as the dot size increases.
