Underground Monitoring System Using Distribution Temperature Sensing and Optical Fiber Composite Power Cable

Abstract


The idea of this paper is to make use of Distribution temperature sensing (DTS) and Optical fiber composite power cable (OFCPC) for the development and improvement of an intelligent cable monitoring system for the underground distribution power system. It has become a priority in power system switching to make use of smart grids, real-time and, online monitoring technologies for underground distribution power cables. In a distribution network, one of the smart grid functions is that the distributed components have been developed with self-diagnostic sensors to realize self-healing. So in this paper the application of DTS and OFCPC is studied for the real-time and online monitoring of the underground distribution power cable system.
