Utilization of Waste materials to Modified Properties of asphalt roofing

Dalia Adil Rasool

Abstract

The continuous increase of high temperature and water damage, will cause many problem in construction such as permanent deformation and cracking of roofing asphalt , to avoid these problems the properties of bitumen must be improved with used modifiers. The using  of recycled waste materials in roofing asphalt provides enhance performance in service. One of these recycled materials are (Rubber,Glass and Low density polyethylene). In this research Rubber,Glass and Low density polyethylene LDP  was added to the  asphalt in order to improve  the physical properties of asphalt, the proportions of the added these modifiers were ( 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10%)  of the asphalt weigh .The results indicate these modifiers reduced penetration  ,ductility values and increased softening point value compared to un modified asphalt. These result indicate that modifiers  (Rubber, Glass and Low density polyethylene )asphalt improves the properties of asphalt and resist the effect of temperature more than the conventional asphalt.
