Experimental Study on Strength and Durability of the Sea Sand Replaced Mortar
Abstract
The most demanded material at present in construction site is river sand. In order to meet the demand of river sand, it is being imported from other countries. To overcome this problem, the abundantly available sea sand can be used for construction purposes. But the raw sea sand consists of more salt and shell content; hence it cannot be used efficiently for construction purpose. The shell content affects the workability of the mortar. The most commonly present salt in sea sand is chloride and sulfate. Their presence affects the durability of the mortar. In order to remove the salt content, the sand has to be chemically treated with the resins.
