Topology Optimisation of Continuum structures including Drucker Prager Stress Constraints using Firefly Algorithm

Abstract


The behavior of pressure dependent materials which typically exhibit different stress limits in tension and compression can be modelled using Drucker Prager yield criterion.  The focus of this paper is to integrate Drucker Prager yield criterion into finite element analysis and perform topology optimization.  A simple ESO based topology optimization approach which includes Drucker Prager yield criterion is presented here.  Firefly meta-heuristic algorithm has been used. An L-problem from the literature has been solved to check the validity of Kreisselmeier-Steinhauser function and the FF algorithm.
