Abstract

With the rapid urbanization and ever growing needs of the cities, the highways are fast expanding to serve the needs of the people.  These highways are fast lane and require a foot over crossing for the pedestrians.  On an average the highways are over 100 ft roads, and the tast is to design a steel bridge in an economical way.  Baltimore configuration is one of the best designs to use in such situations.  In this study, a foot over steel bridge is analysed for buckling, eigen values and modeshapes were determined using Midas FEA ® software.  The analysis shows that steel truss bridge having Baltimore configuration is quite economical in terms of weight to span ratio as well.
