Investigation on Surface Roughness in End Milling using Response Surface Method

Dr. Dr. Siva Prasad, Emani Sai Bhanu Teja

Abstract

The effect of various process parameters like speed, feed and depth of cut on the surface roughness in end milling process was investigated by using standard statistical tool i.e., Response Surface Method(RSM). The coefficients were calculated by using regression analysis and the model is constructed. The model is tested for its adequacy by using fisher’s test. The effect of each input parameters on individual output responses are studied. Bar charts are drawn to analyse the relative difference between experimental value, predicted values using linear and non-linear models. The developed model helps in selection of proper tool and machining parameters for a specific material and also helps in getting the desired quality.
