Structural Health Monitoring of Old Building
Abstract
Monitoring of structures is an important challenge faced by researchers worldwide. This study a new structural health monitoring system which utilized the use of nondestructive testing like rebound hammer, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity meter, core cutter test & carbonation test. The system is analyzed for works on detection of structural behavior irregularity, defects, and potential failures. The system was tested using visual inspection, non destructive measurements to measure the developed different effects on different structure. The results interpreted showed that the readings obtained followed correctly the expected trend according to structural concepts. The developed methodology accomplished the desired features of lower cost, reduced size of memebers, flexibility and easier implementation, early detection of problems, and simplified representation of the results.
