Structural health monitoring, Rehabilitation and retrofitting of old building

Abstract


Structures such as residential buildings, commercially used buildings, bridges and others getting deteriorated and damage due to certain conditions such as excessive use of structure beyond its life time, environmental conditions, not using the structure for which it is built and the lastly use of  inadequate material during construction. Structural health monitoring will provide the type of damage and its effect on structure. In this paper we are going to discuss regarding the different methods used in assessment of structural health monitoring and depending upon the type of damage how it should be rehabilitated. One of the sample building of our college is being considered and discussing some methods which is best suitable for rehabilitation and retrofitting
