A Study to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Informational Booklet on Knowledge Regarding Coronary Angiography among 3rd Year GNM Students in Selected Nursing Schools at Vijayapur, Karnataka

Abstract


The doctor uses this catheter to put a contrast dye into the blood of the coronary arteries. You will be awake for a coronary angiography procedure, although you may be given medication that will help you relax. The doctor will numb the spot where the catheter is put into your body. This procedure is done in a hospital catheterization laboratory, or cath lab. You may be able to go home the same day but some people are kept overnight to be observed. Objectives of the Study
 To assess the knowledge of 3rd year G.N.M. students regarding coronary angiography.
 To develop informational booklet regarding coronary angiography for student nurses.
 To evaluate the effectiveness of informational booklet on knowledge regarding coronary angiography.
 To find the association between the knowledge scores with selected Socio demographic variables.
Research Methodology
Research Approach: An evaluative research approach was used to evaluate the effectiveness of information booklet. Research Design: In the present study, pre experimental one group pretest and posttest design is done. Setting: The present study was conducted in selected schools of nursing at Bijapur. Socio-demographic variables: The socio-demographic variables considered for this study were age, gender, religion, type of family, place of residence and source of information. Results: The percentage of gain in knowledge scores was 42.64%. Overall pretest mean knowledge score is 12, median is 13 and standard deviation is 2.68, whereas, posttest mean knowledge score is 25, median is 26 and standard deviation is 2.92. In pretest, majority of subjects 30 (50%) had an average knowledge; 18 (30%) had poor knowledge and 12 (20%) had good knowledge, whereas, in posttest 51 (85%) of them had good knowledge and 09 (15%) had poor knowledge.
