Standard Precautions
Abstract
Standard precautions are meant to reduce the risk of transmission of blood borne & other pathogens from both recognized & unrecognized sources. To improve outcome & reduce health care cost it is essential that everyone involves in providing care in hospitals & the community is educated about standard precautions & trained in hand decontamination & the appropriate use of personal protective equipment & safe disposals of clinical waste. They are the basic level of Infection control precautions which are to be used as a minimum in the care of all patients
