Factors Responsible For Overuse of Internet

Abstract

Objective: To find the association between demographic profile and other selected facilitating factors with internet overuse. Methods: This is a cross sectional analysis of data collected from 455 internet addicted teenagers with the help of structured questionnaire about demographic data and factors that facilitating excessive use of internet. Data were evaluated through frequency percentage and chi-square. Results: Demographic profile e.g. standard in which teenagers were studying (p=0.02), type of family (p=0.01) significant and socio-economic class (<0.01) found highly significant with various category of internet addiction. Conclusion: Certain demographic characteristics and facilitating factors are leading towards overuse of internet therefore efforts should be taken to increase awareness and prevent such issue.
