PARTIAL REPLACEMENT OF FINE AGGREGATE AND CEMENT BY WASTE MARBLE POWDER – A REVIEW

R. H. Mohankar, M. D. Pidurkar, R. S. Bute

Abstract

Marble is widely used in the world as a building material since the ancient times.  The last byproduct of marble mine is marble waste (Powder & Granules) and it is very important material for its properties like powder can be used as replacement of cement and granules as sand in construction without any effect on strength of concrete. In addition, recycling waste without proper management can result in environmental problems greater than the waste itself.

Marble powder and granules is formed during the production of marble pieces from marble stone.   The marble waste is that about 25% to 30% of the original marble production from mines. If the waste materials of marble is not process properly then it will directly affect the environment and can cause the some problems such as decreases the soil fertility, also affects the human body etc.

The production of concrete by using these wastes can solve the some problems of sand in construction field.

This paper highlights the possibility of the uses of marble waste for cement and sand to attain economy
