Comparison Study of IMC and IMC Based PID Controller for Heat Exchanger System

Heat exchanger is generally used in chemical and process industries for efficient
heating purpose of liquid steam where huge amount of heats are required and electrical heating is not economical. This communication provides the comparative performance analysis of different control structures such as feedback only, feedback-feed forward, Internal Model Control, Model Predictive Control and IMC based PID control of process. In this paper, I have studied mainly the Comparative response analysis for the heat exchanger system using internal model control and internal model based PID control. I have got a good set point tracking and more disturbance rejection taking place using IMC based PID control strategy for heat exchanger system when compare to generalized internal model control.
