Abstract

Cities are encountering fast urban development which falls apart the personal satisfaction of city inhabitants and environmental supportability of the locale. Expectation of future urban development is extremely valuable for urban arranging and ecological administration of quickly developing urban communities. Utilization of Geo-informatics is gigantically useful in fulfilling this undertaking with part of sparing in time and vitality. In this work Vijayawada, a quickly developing city is considered as a contextual analysis, furthermore, urban development has been examined over a time of 26 years to anticipate future urban extension in the year 2040. Landsat satellite pictures of 1988, 2008and 2014 are utilized for this study. An aggregate range of 85515.75 hectares was taken as study range which is recognized as zone with potential for extension. In the wake of preparing the symbolism, land use land spread pictures are created in ERDAS Imagine. The yield pictures are utilized to foresee the future area use land spread picture utilizing Land Change Modeler of IDRISI Selva. The outcomes demonstrate that developed of Vijayawada city has been expanded from 1671.84 hectares in 1988 to 25992.27 hectares in 2014 lastly to 44611.2 hectares in 2040. The rate increment in developed range from 2008 to 2014 is 28.43% and that from 1988 to 2040 is 50.21%. A precision of more than 80% was acquired in all stages. The yield pictures and examination are additionally displayed for omprehension the degree of urban development.
