Capacity Enhancement of BIW Line Considering High Work Content using MOST Time Study

Abstract

BIW stands for body in white, all activities in the production of a vehicle body or shell before it goes to the paint shop are done in a weld shop and the end product of a weld shop is referred as BIW. The term BIW has its roots in the backdrop of late 60’s when a vehicles body was painted with white primer so as to perform a paint job of the desired color. This project will focus on improving the productivity of a BIW on the BIW assembly line. The current project addresses the productivity improvement of a BIW assembly line by making use of process mapping, MOST time study, DELMIA, and other solutions.
