Km Shruti, Dr. Shelej Khera, Manoj Kumar, Vikrant Verma

Abstract

Here an attempt is made to provide a reliable, more user-friendly, eco-friendly and viable mobility aid in the form of an intelligent multimodal power assisted wheelchair for those who are disabled in movement. The aim is to design and develop an intelligent wheelchair prototype with multimodal operation using some fast, cheap and reliable computational platforms like microcontrollers, sensory network, data acquisition systems, etc. The wheelchair is designed for social cause and the purpose is to raise the self-confidence level of a significant class of disabled and elder people of a country like India, by providing them maximum autonomy so that they can lead a better life and participate in community.
