Kanban System: A Lean Tool to Implement JIT in Automotive Company (A Case Study)

The aim of this paper is to apply an important lean manufacturing technique known as KANBAN which mainly focuses on reducing the inventory levels of a company. The study showed and suggested that quality improvement and quality control, inventory management, employee and top management commitment and supplier participation are actually the contributing factors for successfully employing the project Kanban and initiate the journey to become lean. A firm’s efficiency and competitiveness are two important challenges in today’s global market that have motivated many manufacturing firms to plan novel manufacturing management strategies. Such strategies involve few tools to be implemented and one of such tools is KANBAN system.
