Gust Load Calculations for High Rise Structures

Abstract


This paper presents a step by step procedure for evaluating the dynamic wind load that is gust load. The gust response factors and the equivalent static wind loads for various along wind response components for Square shape, “I” shape, Rectangular shapes of building situated in wind zone I of India are discussed in detail and in accordance with IS 875 (part 3)-1987 base shear comparison is done with and without gust load.
