Mechanical and Durability Properties of High Strength Quaternary Cement Concrete

Abstract


The paper presented here in investigates the effects of using supplementary cementitious materials (SCM) in quaternary blends on characteristic compressive, tensile and flexure strength of high strength concrete. A total of 5 concrete mixtures were designed having a constant water/binder ratio of 0.34 and total binder content of 402 Kg/m3. The control mixture contained only ordinary portland cement (OPC) as binder whereas others incorporated quaternary blends of OPC, fly ash (FA), silica fume (SF) and Lime Powder (LP). The results of compressive strength, tensile strength, flexure strength and rapid chloride permeability test, upon comparison with the results of conventional concretes will help to identify optimum percentages of SCMs for different combinations in order to obtain quaternary cement concrete of desirable strength with uncompromised performance and quality.
