A Novel Algorithm for Optimal Transfer of Power in Hybrid Power Generation Units
Abstract
Smart micro-grid is a new kind of power grid. In smart micro grid to produce electricity various renewable energy resources may be used and store them in power storage device. However, power losses are a major problem in power exchange between the macro-station and micro-grid. In this paper, a greedy coalition formation algorithm allows the macro-station to mutually coordinate power exchange between the macro-station and micro-grid, with power storage device. This algorithm optimizes the total power losses across the entire micro-grid, including the power loss due to charging and discharging power storage device, generation and power exchange. This algorithm creates a set of micro-grid pairs, giving priority to micro-grid pairs with the higher power losses reduction per exchange power unit. Through computer simulations, the proposed algorithm is demonstrated that optimally reduces the average power loss in entire micro-grid
