A Survey on Computational Offloading Models in Mobile Cloud Computing

Shalini Lakshmi A J, Vijayalakshmi M

Abstract

Mobile devices are considered as scarce resource constrained equipment that cannot execute highly compute intensive tasks. To enrich the smart handheld devices to perform such tasks, it has been integrated with the growing cloud technology and the new area has been revolutionized as Mobile Cloud Computing. It tries to fill the gap between resource demand and supply on poor mobile devices by migrating data processing and storage for mobile applications to powerful and centralized computing platforms in clouds. MCC contributes two aspects of offloading: Data offloading; Computational offloading. This paper particularly considers the analysis of computational offloading mechanisms and their contrast based on various functionalities. Finally, the significant issues related to the existing mechanisms and their possible solutions are discussed in this paper.
