A Literature Collection for Self Compacting Concrete

S. Jothi Manjula

Abstract

Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) is one of the advanced type of concrete which is widely used in structures were congested reinforcements are provided. The review paper mainly focuses on the mix proportions by partial replacement of cement, fine and coarse aggregates by various eco-friendly materials, then adding different admixtures and filler materials in SCC. The materials are limestone, traditional roof tiles powder, sea water, nanoparticles (SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, ZnO2 or CuO), recycled coarse aggregate, ladle furnace slag, fly ash, various sized crumb rubber, steel fiber, plastic waste, class F fly ash, oxidizing and reducing slag, ground waste glass. Then to review the fresh properties such as slump flow, V-funnel, L-box, U funnel test and hardened properties such as compressive, split tensile strength test, flexural test in self-compacting concrete. It was observed that fine materials improve the properties of SCC with addition low water binder ratio and addition of superplasticizer.
