Seasonal Variation on Electricity Consumption of Academic Building- A case study
Abstract
Electricity is considered to be one of the cleanest forms of energy and its consumption varies
with the weather, as changes in temperature and humidity, and with types of building. Due to
these changing ambient weather conditions, the performances of the buildings are greatly
affected. In the present study, an attempt has been made to explore the seasonal energy
requirement and electricity consumption pattern of an academic building of BRCM College
of Engineering and Technology. It was found that with increase in mean monthly temperature
the electricity consumption was also increased. It was found to be more relevant for the
blocks having computer labs and offices. The results of this study will help understanding
seasonal variation electricity consumption, identifying the seasonal peak electricity demand.
