Water Transfer from Purna Dam to Chargad Dam under Gravity in Amravati District
Abstract
Water deficiency is one of severe problem in India. This problem is because of dependency on rainfall/monsoon, which is not uniform at every place. In some areas, water is found to be deficient while other area has surplus water. If this surplus water can be transferred to deficient area then this problem to a greater extent can be sorted out. In the Amravati district which is the study area in the present work, at one dam there is surplus water while other is deficient. Hence there is scope of transferring water from surplus to deficient dam. In this context the study area is analyzed in terms of surplus and water deficiency, and their capacities are being studied. A suitable route for connecting these dams has been suggested.
